A workshop I ran as part of the Planting Roots programme, a collaborative project between the University of Warwick, Warwick Arts Centre and Foleshill Community Centre. The project invites writers and artists to run sessions that respond to their incredible medicine garden which is home to a very impressive variety of healing plants. With community members I co-created a poem and poetry installation in one of the big plant beds in the front garden.

It's been a hugely rewarding experience that involved a diverse range of participants, some of whom were dyslexic and some who had brilliant ideas but struggled to write. All came with an open mind and heart and a willingness to share ideas and try crazy things...magic happened. The image illustrates part of our installation idea which involved writing micro-poems (wildflowers re-imagined) onto hand-made/high germination/ seeded paper hearts which we planted and are growing into the beginnings of a wildflower poetry garden.

“Working with Su on Planting Roots has been a beautiful process. Her energy and enthusiasm created an introspective atmosphere that was perfect for workshop participants to connect with nature and their creativity. Through mindful movement, drawing and written prompts, people were brought together. This was all down to Su’s thoughtful workshop activities, inclusive practise, and meticulous approach.”
